All of Us (どいつもこいつも Doitsu mo Koitsu mo?) is the eighth episode of the Call of the Night anime.[1][2]
Synopsis[]
Kou thought he had all the time in the world, but the revelation of an unexpected deadline changes everything. Hopefully his friends (new and old alike) will have some advice.
Summary[]
Hearing that Kou saying no matter how many years, everyone gives him a surprise look. Kou then wonders what is going on and Nico tells him that there is a time limit. From the first time you get your blood sucked, you have one year to turn into a vampire, otherwise you will never turn. Kou turns shocked towards Nazuna, who casually states she forgot about it. After a bit, Nazuna states they will leave, but seeing the girls having fun, she turns to Kou and reminds him that he still hasn’t received the reward for the massage the other day and kisses him, surprising everyone. As they leave, Kou states that Nazuna is quite unusual even for a vampire but is glad that he met her.
Kou shares about the time limit with Akira, who finds it bad. Kou agrees, stating that you usually spend years to achieve your future, but one year is too short. However, Akira states she didn't mean that, but since a human knows so much about vampire habits, he is a threat, and they will kill him. Kou states its fine as they let him go, but Akira explains that if in a year, he doesn't turn, he will remain human and be a threat. Kou then realizes that his situation is serious and starts to wonder if he has only a year to live.
Akira finds sleeping Mahiru
In the morning, Akira heads to school, but is surprised to see Mahiru lying on the stairs of the school. Mahiru apologizes and explains that he had fun all night and had fallen asleep on the stairs. Akira states he is a good student and wonders why he was out all night. Mahiru states he likes a person, but apparently that person can spend time with him only at night. Akira guess she is older woman and hopes it’s not a vampire, but Mahiru wonders what she means. Mahiru wonders if Kou isn't coming to school lately and Akira confirms. Mahiru felt that was the case and hopes the three of them to spend time like they used to. Akira then wonders when they have spent time together. Which surprises Mahiru as it seems only he thought they were friends, but Akira states he has many friends, and she can barely recall any times they were just the three of them. Before going to their classes, Mahiru states he will try talking with Kou, but if he can't, Akira should tell him that Mahiru was worried about him. Akira recalls the time when she and Kou were observing the ants. Mahiru joined them, wondering if it’s interesting. He then asks Kou to come and play baseball with them. Kou states he doesn't know the rules, but Mahiru states he will teach him.
Kou tries to run from Seri
At night, Kou meets Seri, but he acts like he isn't Kou and attempts to run. Seri stops him, stating she heard he had some tasty blood and wonders how it tastes. The two then talk and Kou explains that he doesn't know what to do and how exactly to fall in love. Seeing an innocent middle schooler asking what love is, Seri gets super excited and barely holds herself. She calls herself "Love Master" and states she knows a surefire way for a guy and girl to get closer.
Nazuna annoyed for watching a romcom
After that, Kou goes to Nazuna's place and invites her on a date, but she refuses and returns inside to play video games. Kou wonders if it’s because she is gaming that she doesn't want to go on a date, and then turns her game off. Nazuna is annoyed, but explains that at least modern games have saves, unlike the retro games. Kou insist on them going to a date again and annoyed, Nazuna accepts. Kou takes Nazuna to watch a movie, however as they watch, Nazuna asks him if he is trying to get on her nerves as he picked a romcom movie. Kou apologizes and they leave. Outside, he looks at a piece of paper with date plans that Seri gave him. Next one is a cafe where they should talk about the movie they saw. As they go and Kou asks about the movie, Nazuna gets annoyed. Nazuna then wonders if someone put ideas in his head and who exactly it was. Kou recalls that Seri told him to not reveal she gave him ideas as Nazuna hates her. Nazuna then sees the piece of paper and takes it from Kou, realizing its Seri. As she reads the list of ideas, she finds it lame and decides to head home.
After gaming for a while, Nazuna feels hungry. She sees the list and goes to Kou's place, asking him if he wants to do the last part of his list, a meal overlooking the night lights. She takes Kou and flies over the city, wondering what a date is. And if this is a date, they have been always going on dates. Nazuna wants them to do what they always do as she finds it fun. Nazuna then proceeds to suck his blood.
Kou and Mahiru meet up
While looking for Nazuna, Kou sees Mahiru with another boy and two girls. He freezes for a moment, but as Mahiru doesn't see him, he relaxes and finds that Mahiru hasn’t changed. However, Mahiru recognized him and turned back to talk with Kou. The two go elsewhere, where there are less people. Kou is surprised that Mahiru managed to recognize him after so much time, but Mahiru states its natural as they are friends. Kou recalls that he always wondered from what point people are friends, but he had considered Akira and Mahiru to be his friends. Since Akira was a girl, he wasn't really sure how to interact with her, but things were much easier with Mahiru. Kou notes that Mahiru is perfect, he has good grades, excells at sports and people like him. His family owns a flower shop. Being told that Kou is Mahiru's friend, makes Kou happy. As the two talks, how easy is for them to notice each other, Akira shows up. Mahiru wonders if she is heading home, but Akira states he is actually going out. Akira then tells Mahiru that Kou is skipping school as he fools around with a girl but wants Mahiru to tell him to go to school at least. Mahiru wonders if spending time with the girl is fun, and Kou confirms. He receives a message and apologizes as he needs to meet someone and leaves them. Akira tells Kou that he acts corny around Mahiru, since he is his role model, but Kou states he is everyone's role model. Akira decides to head back home and sleep some more.
Nazuna is looking for Kou but sees Mahiru with a woman. Kou then shows up and asks Kou to hold hands. Nazuna states that the moment she takes her eyes of him, he goes away, but Kou corrects her it’s her who does that.

- Instead of being set at a festival, the events of Chapter 25 happen on a regular street. The appearances the other vampires make in it are also cut out.
- The episode shares its title with Chapter 23.
- The episode's two title cards are tributes to the covers of Chapter 22 and Chapter 24 respectively.
- Nazuna's stomach growling was added in the anime, since it didn't in one of the chapters.
